Psychotherapy & Couples Counseling

For adults who have relationship problems, ADHD, depression or anxiety.

Psychotherapy & Couples Counseling Overview

Clients in individual psychotherapy learn about their strengths and challenges and build the skills they need to have a more satisfying life. I use behavioral and insight-oriented methods of treatment depending on client needs and focus on helping clients tell the story, develop insight, and manage troubling symptoms and problems. I specialize in treating clients who have ADHD, anxiety, depression, or relationship problems.

Clients in couples counseling work on improving their connection to each other, enhancing the joy they can find in their relationship, and on learning better ways to communicate and solve problems. Every couple is unique and I help them find creative solutions to the issues that trouble them.

Is Individual Therapy Right for You?

People often ask themselves whether therapy is right for couples. Sometimes others in our lives see the need before we do. I believe it’s never too late – or too early – to get the help you need.

Here are some of the things that individual therapy can help you with:

  • Feelings of tension or nervousness
  • A frequent or persistent low mood
  • Transitions or life changes
  • Low self-esteem
  • Difficulty regulating emotions
  • Difficulty accomplishing goals or completing tasks
  • Struggles with interpersonal relationships
  • Job or school stress

How can couples counseling help?

  • Resolve conflicts
  • Improve communication
  • Minimize the intensity of arguments
  • Increase relationship satisfaction
  • Experience more joy in the relationship

People Often Ask…

How long are the sessions and how many sessions are recommended?
Sessions usually run 50 minutes. The number of sessions that I’ll recommend is best determined after we have an initial consultation.

How will I pay for therapy?
Psychotherapy is usually covered by insurance and couples counseling is sometimes covered by insurance. I am in network with one commercial insurer, Anthem, and with Medicare and Medicaid. If you have other insurance you can pay for your sessions by check or credit card. I will provide a bill for you to be reimbursed by your insurer if you have out-of network coverage.

What techniques do you use?
I employ a number of different psychotherapeutic techniques, from behavior therapy to more insight oriented treatment, depending on client needs.

Do you have any other questions?
My focus is on you and I strive to be as flexible and open as possible. If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
